Description
Learning Game turns studying into a game. Instead of a learning app that feels like homework, you get short rounds that fit into a bus ride or a break: quiz questions on geography, history, mythology, science and more, mental arithmetic against the clock, word scramble for foreign languages, and flashcards for your own vocabulary.
To turn practice into a habit, the app uses streaks, tickets and a daily challenge: one round a day is always free, and playing on consecutive days keeps your streak alive. The flashcards use spaced repetition – words you get wrong come back more often, while the ones you know well appear at ever longer intervals.
All content can be extended by you: create your own questions in the editor, import questions as a CSV file, or simply photograph a vocabulary list – the app recognises the words via text recognition and translates them. And in a Nearby Battle, up to 10 players compete straight from phone to phone, fully offline and without signing up.
The game modes
- Quiz – questions with four answer options, organised into categories and levels. Work through the levels of a category and rise from Beginner through Intermediate and Expert to Master.
- Math – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division against the clock, in several difficulty levels.
- Word Scramble – assemble a word from individual letters; ideal for practising the spelling of foreign vocabulary.
- Vocabulary & Flashcards – create your own boxes and review them with spaced repetition, either German first, foreign language first, or random.
- Nearby Battle – quiz or vocabulary against players nearby, without internet.

Learning Game is continuously being developed further. Next up are a cloud backup that moves your learning progress to a new device, and a comparison with friends. We are also adding more quiz categories and questions. If you would like a particular topic or game mode, feel free to write to us (see Contact us).

- New: Nearby Battle – challenge friends nearby live, either with quiz questions or vocabulary, with no internet needed
- New: Spaced repetition for flashcards – cards you get wrong show up more often automatically, the ones you master less and less
- New: Learning calendar – a heatmap shows at a glance which days you studied, either over 4 weeks or 12 months
- Improved: fixed several crashes, the app now runs more stably
Permissions
In order to use the app without restrictions, the following permissions must be granted:
- Camera: photographing vocabulary lists and texts for import via text recognition. The photos are processed on the device only.
- Bluetooth & Wi-Fi: connection to other nearby devices for the Nearby Battle (local multiplayer, works without internet).
- Location (only up to Android 12): required by Android for the Bluetooth device search; the position itself is not evaluated by the app.
- Notifications: reminder for the daily challenge so your streak does not break.
- Internet access: displaying ads and downloading the translation data for the camera import.
